Hello Adventurers! We have just come back from an unforgettable Adventures by Disney (Abd) vacation in Arizona and Utah. Join us as we kick off our journey with Day 1 of our incredible Adventure!
Day 1 started with our seamless arrival at the Phoenix airport. Upon landing, we made our way to baggage claim, where we were greeted by an employee holding an Adventures by Disney sign. She guided us to our baggage claim area and assisted us in collecting our luggage. As our bags appeared, she tagged them with our AbD tags and took them to our motorcoach. This meant we didn’t have to worry about carrying our luggage around until it was time to meet at noon.

We had a couple of hours to spare until we had to meet at the airport Starbucks, so we decided to take advantage of the time and sat down to enjoy some food together. When it was close to noon, we gathered our things and headed down to Starbucks to meet our Adventure Guides and the rest of our fellow Adventurers. As we entered the café, Byron and Mike greeted us with broad smiles and a sense of excitement, making us feel instantly welcomed. We didn’t have to wait long for the other thirty people in our group to trickle in, each one adding to the growing energy in the room, eager to embark on the journey that lay ahead.
We followed Bryon and Mike to our Motorcoach where we met Wade, our driver. We had a beautiful 2025 Motorcoach that looked and smelled like it was brand new. We got comfortable then we were off towards our first stop, Sedona. Byron and Mike took turns explaining what our timeline looked like for the next couple of hours. We had a surprise bathroom pitstop that turned into our first magical moment.

We got to see some beautiful saguaro cactus, standing against the backdrop of the Arizona desert. These remarkable cactus can live for over 150 years and grow over 40 feet tall. Mike and Byron were so knowledgeable about every tiny detail. We took a quick bathroom break, stretching our legs before getting back on the road. Not too far back into our drive, we were surprised with another magical surprise, where we stopped at the breathtaking Montezuma Castle.
The main attraction is Montezuma Castle itself, a remarkable multi-story cliff dwelling built into a limestone cliff that has stood the test of time. These impressive dwellings were constructed and inhabited by the Sinagua people, who thrived in the area for approximately 300 years, starting around 1100 AD. This historical site offers a glimpse into their innovative architecture and the rich cultural heritage of the region. We got to explore the area for about an hour, which was both exciting and educational. We browsed through the quaint gift shop stocked with local crafts and souvenirs, and joyfully got our National Park Passport books stamped.

We hopped back on our Motorcoach and headed towards Sedona. The journey took us along winding roads, each turn revealing more of the stunning landscapes of the red rocks. Finally, we made it to our home away from home for the next two nights, the Enchantment Resort. This remarkable resort is nestled in the heart of Boynton Canyon, where it is surrounded by the breathtaking pristine wilderness and majestic red rocks.
Our Adventure Guides assisted us in checking in to our Resort, ensuring that the process was seamless. We were then whisked away by a golf cart, which added a touch of excitement as we made our way to our room. Upon arrival, we discovered our luggage ready and waiting to be transported to our room, and once again, we were relieved not to lift a finger throughout this entire process. The driver moved our luggage just beyond our door. When we finally walked in, we were absolutely blown away by the beauty of this Resort and the elegant design of the room. It had a stunning layout complete with a full kitchen, a spacious living area, and a charming dining area.. The room featured two queen beds, along with a dual vanity bathroom that offered a touch of luxury and convenience. To top it all off, there was a cozy fireplace, perfect for creating a warm and inviting ambiance. The outdoor patio was perfect to step outside and enjoy the fresh air and views of the surrounding area. We would later learn that not everyone had the upgraded room that we had, making us feel particularly fortunate and grateful.

Once we were settled in our room, we had a couple of hours to explore the Resort and get ready for our welcome dinner, which was set to start at 6:30 PM. We took our time wandering the beautifully landscaped gardens, discovering cozy nooks and breathtaking views. As the sun began to set, we mingled outside and enjoyed some delicious nachos and queso. When we were finally ready, we headed indoors for our meal. We enjoyed an incredible taco bar that offered an array of toppings and flavors. We even had the opportunity to introduce ourselves and share what we were most looking forward to during our vacation. The highlight of the night, was listening to captivating stories and music from the Hopi. As the rhythmic sounds filled the room, we were transported into their world, and learning about the culture felt so immersive, deepening our appreciation for the rich heritage surrounding us.
By the time our welcome dinner ended, we were utterly exhausted from the long travel day and the time zone difference. We headed to our cozy beds, looking forward to what the next week had in store, filled with the promise of new adventures, exciting discoveries, and the chance to explore unfamiliar places that would surely leave lasting memories.
Stay tuned for Day 2-8 of our Adventures!
